Influencing Nonverbally

Purpose and Description:

We believe influence is the preferred strategy for accomplishing goals in a civilized society. Coercion, aggression, punishment and other forceful alternatives do not win hearts and minds. The research is very clear that the nonverbal dimensions of influencing are more powerful than words or tone of voice. This one-day workshop helps participants develop skills in face-to-face interactions and to manage their images in real-life (not on-line). It also helps participants read others more accurately.

If you want to bring your people together for more than one day or want to provide them an entire curriculum on influencing others, we suggest you also look at our workshops Managing Conflict in All the Right Ways and Influence Strategies.

Although over the years we have offered 5 other workshops on nonverbal behavior, this one was taught for the first time in October, 2011, in Windsor, England. Some of the remarks of participants were:

  • “Very important, very useful.”
  • “Great day. More please.”
  • “I’ll remember it and use it.”
  • “Very interesting.”
  • “Brilliant workshop.”
  • “I’ll use it in my day-to-day interactions.”
  • “Very good.”
  • “Really helpful and very interesting.”
  • “It was another great workshop by Margaret Verble.”
  • “The delivery was of a good quality and pace. Not easy to keep my attention all the time, but you did it.”
  • “I’ll use it professionally and personally.”
  • “I’ll use it in meetings with managers and colleagues.”
Workshop Support:

This workshop can hold up to 25 people. Participants will view parts of a movie several times, so a set up for projection is needed, as is a power point projector, computer and screen. A flip chart and pad, name tents, magic markers and writing pads are helpful. We will supply handout masters ahead of time for duplication.

Personnel Costs:

Fee: $2000.00 US, plus reasonable travel and accommodation expenses
