David’s Resume


David Verble has a M.S. in Performance Technology and Instructional Systems Design from the University of Kentucky (1982) and an undergraduate degree in secondary education from the University of Tennessee (1970).

David’s preparation in organization development, leadership development and executive coaching is through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland (1991, 1995, 1999, 2002, 2003), the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina (1994, 1998), the Roffey-Park Management Institute in England (1999) and the International Gestalt Study Center, Cape Cod, MA (2004-2013).

 Employment History

David has fifteen years of experience in the auto industry. He spent 10 years at Toyota’s Georgetown, KY plant where he worked in management and organization development for the start up of the facility (beginning in 1987) and eventually became manager of Human Resource Development for the plant. Until 2000 he was the manager of Human Resource Development for North American Manufacturing at Toyota’s manufacturing headquarters in Erlanger, KY.

Prior to joining Toyota David was a writer and producer for Kentucky Educational Television (1974-78)  and then Assistant to the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Kentucky with responsibility for instructional support services and organization development (1979-86). He also taught English in Nashville Public Schools for four years before coming to Kentucky (1970-73).  He completed the International Coaching Certification program for the Cleveland Gestalt Institute.

Since leaving Toyota David has worked as management consultant through the firm of Verble, Worth and Verble (2000 – present) where he is a partner. His practice focuses on supporting executives and managers in assessment, planning and implementation for organizational change, operational performance improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives and their own leadership development. David has worked with clients in manufacturing, healthcare, service, finance, higher education and government in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.  His recent work has focused on process improvement, lean management systems, facilitation of strategic thinking and problem solving, coaching and facilitation of executive development programs.   David also has both public agencies and not-for-profit organizations among his long-term clients.

David is a founding member of the Lean Transformations Group (LTG) which provides lean implementation support to a number of manufacturing and non-manufacturing clients.  LTG uses value stream mapping to identify and help implement process improvements and transfers the technology to its clients to improve and sustain their business processes. The LTG partners are authors of the Mapping to See kit for facilitators of value steam improvement projects which was published by LEI in 2007 and Perfecting the Patient Journey a facilitator guide for value stream improvement leaders in healthcare published by LEI in 2012.

Since 2004 David has been on the faculty of the Lean Enterprise Institute where he regularly conducts public and onsite works.  He has taught for lean continuous improvement organizations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, India, Israel, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the UK. He has recently become part of the faculty of the International Gestalt Study Center on Cape Cod.
